So, I’ve been eyeing this Large Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now. It’s one of those classic pieces, you know? I figured, why not try to remake it and see if I can get the same look without, you know, breaking the bank. I heard this bag is often counterfeited, so I am a little worried.
First, I checked out the official Prada flagship store online. Just wanted to get a good look at all the details. Man, that bag is gorgeous. It’s got this really nice Saffiano leather, and the craftsmanship is just amazing. I noticed that all authentic Prada handbags come with a factory code, a small square white tag with a sequence of numbers on it. I took lots of screenshots for reference.
- Went to a few local fabric stores.
- Looked for a leather that was similar in texture to the Saffiano.
- Didn’t find an exact match, but found something pretty close.
- Bought the leather, along with some lining fabric and other supplies.
Then, the real work began. I spent hours studying the pictures, trying to figure out the dimensions and how it was all put together. I made a pattern on some paper, kind of like a blueprint. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. Lots of trial and error.
Next, I cut out the leather pieces and started sewing. It was a slow process. I’m not a professional, so I took my time. Used my old sewing machine – it’s not fancy, but it gets the job done. Had to redo a few seams, but hey, that’s part of the process, right?
Finding the right hardware was another challenge. I searched online for the metal logo, the zipper, the little feet at the bottom, you name it. Ended up ordering some parts from different places. It was like a treasure hunt.
After many days, I finally finished it. It’s not a perfect replica, of course. There are some differences, like the inside tag, I didn’t put a fake one. But overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It definitely has that Prada vibe.
Compared it to the pictures from the official store, and you know what? It’s not bad at all. It’s got a similar look and feel, and it’s definitely a conversation starter. A real nice bag, this remake Prada Galleria bag, I tell you.
Would I do it again?
Maybe. It was a lot of work, but it was also a fun challenge. And I learned a lot about bag making. Plus, I saved a ton of money. But, let’s be honest, the real Prada bag is still on my wishlist. Someday, maybe. The official flagship store sells this Large Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, it’s something to see. It ain’t cheap. But it is important to know all about these fake Prada bags, so I think my practice is meaningful.
