CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Apollo 8 Dark Side of the Moon: Is It Worth the Hype? (A Hands-On Review)

Time:2024-12-21 Author:ldsf125303

This here watch, that Omega Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon”, I tell ya, it’s somethin’ else. Heard it called a “CopyOMEGA”, which is mighty strange to me, but folks sure do love a deal these days. They say it’s like the real deal, but costs less money. Now, I ain’t no fancy watch expert, but I seen a picture of it, and it’s black as a moonless night. That’s probably why they call it “Dark Side of the Moon”.

They say this watch is s’posed to be like what them astronaut fellas wore when they went to the moon. Apollo 8, that’s what they called the spaceship. First time anyone ever saw the other side of the moon, the side we can’t see from here. Big deal, I reckon. Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders, them’s the names of the fellas, they went there back then. Musta been somethin’, seein’ the Earth from way out there.

This here watch, it’s got a black strap, they call it “Cordura”. Sounds fancy, but it looks tough, like it could handle a good day’s work. And that’s important, you know? A watch needs to be tough, not just pretty. This CopyOMEGA watch, it looks like it can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.

  • Black as night, this watch is.
  • Cordura strap, tough as nails.
  • Just like what them astronauts wore, they say.

Now, I heard some folks say it’s “gimmicky”. I don’t rightly know what that means, but it sounds like somethin’ young folks would say. Maybe it means it’s got all sorts of fancy doohickeys on it. But it does look kinda sporty, I’ll give it that. Not like them old-fashioned watches your grandpa used to wear. This one’s got a bit of a modern look, I reckon. This Omega Speedmaster, even if it is a “copy,” it sure is somethin’ to look at.

And it’s big, too. They say it’s 44.25mm. I ain’t sure what that means exactly, but it looks like a good size for a man’s wrist. Not too big, not too small. Just right, I’d say. You wouldn’t want a tiny little watch that you can barely see, would ya? Nope, you want somethin’ with a bit of heft to it. Especially if you’re talkin’ about an Apollo 8 watch.

They say the inside of this watch is special, too. Somethin’ called a “3869”, which is like a “3861”, but they done somethin’ to it with a laser. Made it look like the moon, they say. Now, that’s somethin’, ain’t it? A little piece of the moon right there on your wrist. I don’t know how they do it, but it sounds mighty impressive. All this fancy stuff in this CopyOMEGA Speedmaster, it’s a wonder how they make it!

Now, I heard this watch, the real one, not this “copy” one, it costs a whole heap of money. $12,000, they say! Can you believe that? That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life. This “copy” one though, gotta be cheaper than that. Might be a good way to get a fancy watch without breakin’ the bank. It’s like getting the dark side of the moon for less!

I reckon this watch is for folks who like that sort of thing. Space and astronauts and all that. It’s a conversation starter, that’s for sure. Imagine tellin’ folks you got a watch that’s like the one them astronauts wore to the moon. They’d probably think you’re somethin’ special.

Anyways, this CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon”, it’s a nice-lookin’ watch. Tough, sporty, and it’s got a story to tell. Even if it ain’t the real deal, it’s still somethin’ to think about. Maybe I’ll ask my grandson about it. He’s always on about them fancy gadgets and whatnot. He might know a thing or two about this here watch.

It ain’t every day you see a watch that’s been to the moon, or at least, kinda like it’s been to the moon. This Omega watch is one of a kind, or maybe one of a few if you count the “copies”. But still, it’s a good one. You can be sure about that.

  • Big watch, 44.25mm, they say.
  • Inside looks like the moon.
  • Real one costs a fortune, $12,000!

Yeah, this watch, it’s got me thinkin’. Maybe there’s more to these fancy watches than I thought. Maybe it ain’t just about tellin’ time. Maybe it’s about havin’ a little piece of history right there on your wrist. Or at least pretendin’ to. This CopyOMEGA thing is startin’ to grow on me, I think. The more I think about this Speedmaster Apollo 8, the more I like it.
