Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface watch for a while now. I mean, who hasn’t? It’s a classic, right? I finally decided to pull the trigger and, let me tell you, it was an adventure.
First off, I started digging around online. I wanted to know everything about this watch. I found out that it first came out way back in 1931. Apparently, it was made for polo players. These guys needed a watch that could take a beating, you know, from all that rough play. So, this dealer, de Trey, he got the idea to make a watch that could flip over to protect the face. Pretty smart, huh?
So, I looked at a bunch of different websites, trying to find the best deal. These watches are not cheap, let me tell you. Prices were all over the place, some going for over $13,000, and others I saw were like $15,000. I was seeing a lot of green ones, too, which is the color I really liked. I read that the price was initially around $8,750 but it’s way higher now!
After a lot of searching, I finally found a store that had the one I wanted. I called them up and talked to this really helpful salesperson. We chatted for a bit, and I asked them a ton of questions. The salesperson was cool, I think they might’ve thought I was crazy for asking so many questions, but hey, it’s a lot of money! Finally decided to go for it. I placed the order and waited. It felt like forever! But then, a few days later, it arrived!
Unboxing it was such a great moment. I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning. This watch is beautiful. The green face is even better in person. And the way it flips over, it’s just so cool. It’s one of those things that you just have to see and feel to really understand how it’s so cool.
I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I love it. It’s such a conversation starter. People are always asking me about it. It definitely feels good to have it on my wrist, it is just something special. It’s a statement piece, for sure. I’m so glad I finally got one.
