Okay, so I was browsing around online the other day, just killing time, and I stumbled upon the Yves Saint Laurent website. You know, YSL, that fancy brand? Anyway, I saw they had this new bag called the JUNE BOX BAG. It looked pretty slick, so I got this wild idea to try and remake it myself. I mean, why not, right?
Getting Started
First things first, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at all the pictures of the JUNE BOX BAG on the YSL website. I zoomed in, took screenshots, and basically tried to memorize every little detail. I noticed they had a bunch of different colors and materials, but I decided to go with the classic smooth black leather one. It just seemed the most, I don’t know, achievable for a first attempt.
Gathering Supplies
Next, I had to gather my materials. This was a bit of a scavenger hunt. I hit up a few local craft stores and managed to find some decent-looking black leather, or at least something that resembled leather. I also grabbed some thread, needles, and a zipper. Finding the right kind of buckle was a real pain, but eventually, I found one that looked somewhat similar online and ordered it. It took forever to arrive, but hey, that’s online shopping for you.
The Messy Part
Then came the fun part – actually putting the thing together. I laid out all my materials on my living room floor, which instantly became a disaster zone. I started by cutting out the leather pieces, using some rough measurements I’d jotted down based on the pictures. I’m no expert, so this involved a lot of trial and error, and let’s just say I wasted a fair bit of “leather”.
Sewing was the next big hurdle. I dusted off my old sewing machine, which I hadn’t used in ages, and tried to remember how to thread the darn thing. After a few frustrating attempts and a couple of broken needles, I finally got it working. Sewing the actual bag was slow going. I had to keep referring back to the pictures, and my lines were definitely not as straight as the ones on the real YSL bag.
The Final Touches
Once the main body of the bag was done, I attached the zipper and the buckle. The zipper was surprisingly easy, but the buckle gave me some trouble. I ended up having to hand-sew it on, which was a bit tedious, but it worked out in the end.
The Result
So, after many hours of work, lots of swearing, and a few minor injuries, I finally finished my homemade YSL JUNE BOX BAG. Does it look exactly like the real thing? Absolutely not. Is it a bit wonky and uneven in places? You bet. But, you know what? I made it myself, and that’s pretty cool. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s got character, and I’m weirdly proud of it. I might even use it to go out, just to see the looks on people’s faces. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and that’s all that matters.
And there you have it, my journey in recreating the YSL JUNE BOX BAG. Not too bad for a fun project, huh?
- Site visitors: I didn’t count, but I was definitely one of them!
- Easy and Free Returns: Didn’t need this, since I made my own!
- Payment: I paid for the materials, does that count?
- Location: My living room, not as fancy as 88-95 Grafton Street!
It is a fun experience and I like it!
