Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this whole high imitation Rolex thing, specifically that No-Date Black Submariner. Yeah, the fake one, but a pretty decent fake, if I do say so myself.
First off, I started looking around because, you know, who doesn’t like the look of a Rolex? But that price tag? Forget about it. This Submariner, the black one without the date, that’s the one I had my eye on. Simple, clean, looks sharp.
So, I hit up a few places. These “specialty stores,” they call them. I did some digging, and it seems like these high imitation joints are all over the place. TV, internet, you name it.
Finding a Decent Place
I figured, if I’m gonna do this, I gotta at least make sure it doesn’t fall apart on me, right? There are supposed to be some guides out there that tell you how to spot a good fake from a bad one. I skimmed through a couple, just to get an idea.
- Checked out the “Official Flagship Store” – Sounded legit, but who knows.
- Looked at some quotes – Just to see what kind of prices I was dealing with.
Then I started really getting into it. Found out that the real Submariner No-Date, they call it the “purest” one. No extra stuff on the dial, just the time. That’s what I like.
Diving Deeper
I learned a bit about the real deal, too. Like, they changed the size in 2020, now it’s 41mm. And there’s this super rare one, the 5517, only 1,500 made, and even fewer are still around.
Honestly, the whole process was kind of a headache. So many places selling these things, and it’s hard to know what’s what. But I guess that’s part of the game.
In the end, I found a few places that looked alright. Still, it felt like a gamble. But hey, I was willing to roll the dice. It’s all about the look, right? And if I can get that look without emptying my bank account, why not?
