Okay, here’s my blog post about remaking the Prada Galleria bag:

So I’ve been eyeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition Bag for a while now. You know, the small one. It’s super classy, but the price tag? Ouch. So, I thought, why not try to remake it myself? I’m pretty handy, and I figured it’d be a fun project. Plus, I could save a ton of money.

First things first, I needed to get all the materials. This was a bit of a challenge, ngl. I spent a few days just searching online and in stores for the right kind of leather. I wanted to get it as close as possible to the original Saffiano leather Prada uses. Finally, I found some leather that was pretty darn close. Not perfect, but close enough for me.

Next up, the hardware. This bag has some specific gold-toned details, like the logo, the zippers, and the little feet on the bottom. I found some similar-looking hardware online, not the easiest search but manageable. I ordered a bunch of different options, hoping at least one would match well.

  • Pattern making: This was the hardest part. I had to create a pattern from scratch. I spent hours measuring, cutting, and re-cutting paper until I had a pattern that I thought would work.
  • Cutting the leather: Once the pattern was done, it was time to cut the leather. I was so nervous about messing this part up! But I took my time, used a super sharp cutter, and it went pretty smoothly.
  • Sewing: I’m not gonna lie, sewing leather is tough. My poor sewing machine was working overtime. But I took it slow, one stitch at a time. I did mess up a few times and had to rip out some seams, but hey, that’s part of the process, right?
  • Attaching the hardware: This part was actually pretty satisfying. Once the bag was sewn together, I got to attach all the shiny hardware. It really started to look like a real bag at this point!

After many, many hours of work, I finally finished my remake of the Prada Galleria bag! It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few little imperfections here and there. But overall, I’m super proud of how it turned out. It looks pretty similar to the original, and it definitely scratches that itch for a fancy bag.

Would I do it again? Honestly, it was a lot of work. But it was also a really fun and rewarding experience. I learned a ton about leatherworking, and I saved a lot of money. So, maybe I would! But for now, I’m just going to enjoy my new (kinda) Prada bag.
