Okay, so I’ve been on this hunt for a classic Rolex that both me and my partner can wear. Something that looks good no matter what, you know?
First, I spent hours scrolling through online forums and websites. Pictures of all sorts of models popped up. I started with simple watches, these old-school three-hand ones from way back, like the 60s. They were going for a little over a grand on some site called Chrono24. Not too bad, I thought.
But then, I dug deeper. I wanted to see what else was out there. So, I started checking out different models, ones that maybe had a bit more going on. Day-Dates, Submariners, Explorers – you name it, I probably looked at it.
Here’s What I Learned From My Deep Dive:
-
Datejust: This one seems like a total winner. It’s got that classic Rolex look, and it comes in a bunch of sizes, so finding one that works for both of us should be easy. I saw some with smooth bezels, some with fluted. Lots of choices.
-
Explorer: This one is a bit more sporty, but still pretty sleek. It’s got a simple, clean dial that I really like. Plus, it’s known for being super tough, which is a bonus. I also checked its price which was a little bit higher than the Datejust.
-
Oyster Perpetual: Okay, this one is the most basic, but in a good way. It’s just a simple, time-only watch, but it’s got that Rolex quality. It’s also on the cheaper side, which is a plus. I found that it was even cheaper than those old three-hand ones I mentioned before.
After all this searching, I finally landed on the Datejust. I found a really nice pre-owned one, a 36mm with a silver dial. I tested it on my wrist, then on my partner’s. Perfect fit for both of us!
It was a bit of a splurge, but I figured it’s worth it for something we can both wear and maybe even pass down someday. Now, we both can enjoy a really nice watch, and it’s a cool feeling to share that. Plus, we don’t have to fight over who gets to wear it!
