So, the other day, I was just messing around online, you know, looking at those super expensive watches that I’d never buy. And then, boom! I saw this Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001. It was a real looker, I gotta say. It got me thinking, “Could I actually remake this thing?”

The Idea

I mean, this watch, it’s not just any watch. It’s a Patek Philippe. They call it the Calatrava 5088/100P-001. I thought it sounded like some kind of a robot name or something at first. But it’s a remake, which means it’s not an old, dusty piece. They’re still making these suckers!

The Process

  • First, I started looking up everything I could find about this watch. It’s 38mm, made of platinum. Fancy stuff, right?
  • Then, I had to find the parts. This was a real pain. I searched high and low, online and in stores, for anything that looked like it belonged on this watch.
  • Once I had a bunch of parts that I thought might work, I started putting it all together. This was the hardest part, hands down. It took a lot of trial and error, and more than a few curse words.
  • After a lot of sweat and probably a few tears, I finally had something that resembled the original watch.

The Result

Now, I’m not gonna lie, it’s not perfect. But I’m pretty darn proud of it. It’s a decent-looking watch, and it actually tells time! I never thought I’d be able to do something like this, but here we are. I actually remade a Patek Philippe, or at least something that looks like one. If you’re thinking of trying this, make sure you know what you are getting into. It’s a lot of work. But hey, if I can do it, maybe you can too.

It is not an easy task, but it sure was a fun ride. And who knows, maybe I’ll try to remake another fancy watch someday. But for now, I’m gonna enjoy wearing my homemade Patek Philippe Calatrava.
